Xabi Alonso is expected to make a decision on whether to stay on as Bayer Leverkusen coach before the end of the month, according to Sport Bild.
An announcement could be made after the international break, when all the players are back in Leverkusen.
Leverkusen expect and want Xabi Alonso to stay beyond the summer and are keen to extend his contract beyond 2026 to avoid the risk of losing him on a free next year.
Alonso has been heavily linked with Real Madrid, with reports suggesting he could be Carlo Ancelotti’s successor in the Spanish capital.
Ancelotti, like Alonso, is out of contract in 2026.
