Appreciate Any Liverpool FC Trophy

Good evening everyone, i am a longtime Liverpool FC fan, but not from Liverpool (the username is a giveaway). I have a lifetime of memories being a Liverpool supporter, many great memories, a few frustrating ones and a couple that I wish I’d never happened in the first place and nonetheless they are etched into my brain for the rest of my life.

One particular night stands out to me, which was the 21st of April 1999. On this night I had just finished watching Manchester United beat Juventus in the Champions League semi-final match on ITV. The reason I was watching this match was because at the time, Liverpool was not in the Champions League and if I’m not mistaken watching Champions League football was only available on ITV. Man United played very well that night and beaten an epic Juventus side to make it to the Final.

That is not the reason that I specifically remember this evening. Once the game had finished, I use my remote control for my TV to access teletext to check on Liverpool’s score as they were playing at home that night to Leicester City..

Lo and behold!, my heart sank as I viewed the screen to find that Liverpool had not only lost 1-0 at Home to Leicester City, but they had lost to a last-minute goal by a certain Ian Marshall. At this point, I would like to mention that Ian Marshall was a fairly average Premier League striker. But this Leicester team did not even compare remotely to the stellar team Manchester United has just knocked out of the European cup semi-final.

I sat there staring at the screen, thinking to myself that Liverpool were 1,000,000 miles away from Manchester United and I wondered if they would ever get back to that level.

Now I sit here reading this page listening to some people being quite critical of Liverpool players or people behind the scenes and I think to myself, we are absolutely running away with the Premier League title and I’m just glad that Liverpool football club are back where they belong.

I accept that I am old enough and fortunate enough to remember a time when Liverpool literary won everything. There are times when it even got slightly boring to be perfectly honest, but the older I’ve got the more I have learned to appreciate what it means to win the Premier League or for that matter any trophy that they happen to be in.

I encourage any Liverpool supporter that even has the slightest gripe or grumble to enjoy every minute of this because very quickly it can change and one year quickly becomes two years becomes three years becomes 10 years and can become 30 years. Just imagine being a Manchester United fan looking at the results yesterday to find that Manchester United have lost to wolves and Liverpool have just beaten Leicester City to more or less guarantee the title they must be thinking the same as I was.

Anyway, whatever players stay and whatever players go, hopefully next season Liverpool will be in position to perhaps challenge to win something again because I don’t know about you boys, but I could get used to this every season, LOL. Many thanks for your time and I hope you guys all have a nice bank holiday
