Odilon Kossounou is expected to stay at Atalanta Bergamo permanently beyond summer, BILD believes.
The Ivorian defender was shipped out to the Serie A side at the start of the season and made an instant impression.
However, Kossounou suffered a muscular injury in October before a persistent adductor injury in January left him on the sidelines again.
Nevertheless, head coach Gasperini is supposed to be happy with the 24-year-old and willing to pay the €25million purchase fee.
Kossounou himself is also said to feel at home at the Lombardy club, who must exercise the purchase option by mid-June at the latest.
The deal could work out for all parties given Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso left him out of his plans last season after poor performances.
