Tim Kleindienst is one of the names that has been linked with Bayern Munich, with the Bavarian giants reportedly in the market for a striker to help take some of the pressure off Harry Kane.

But could the Borussia Mönchengladbach and Germany striker actually join Bayern? That’s what Bayern sporting director Max Eberl was asked on Sunday.

“When I was in Leipzig, we gave Tim Kleindienst a lot of thought. But that doesn’t necessarily mean he’s an option for Bayern. It was a big transfer from Gladbach,” Eberl told Sport1.

“Of course we’re thinking about it (signing a back-up for Kane). A back-up for Harry Kane is not an easy topic. Our squad is a bit big. As far as our planning is concerned, we have a lot to do in the summer,” he added.

The question is whether Kleindienst himself would even be interested in a move to Bayern, who wouldn’t be able to guarantee him regular playing time ahead of next year’s World Cup.

Asked if he plans to stay at Gladbach beyond the summer, the striker recently told Bild:

“As things stand at the moment, definitely. I haven’t had any offers yet. That’s why I can sit on the couch at home and relax.”
