VfB Stuttgart midfielder Angelo Stiller faced the cameras after their 2-1 defeat to Werder Bremen this afternoon. The German international praised his opponents and underlined the difficulty of playing with a man down.
“In the first-half, we tried to maintain control of the game. We didn’t want any exchanges of blows or counterattacks, but it was very difficult. Bremen played well. It was a demanding game.
“A second yellow card always makes a difference. I don’t know if it was necessary in this situation. We were playing [from the 65th minute onwards] with a man down and were then primarily challenged defensively.
“Shortly before the end, Werder scored their second goal. We have to defend better, but it’s also more difficult with a man down,” said Stiller, who must now refocus on their away game at Union Berlin next Saturday.
