Florian Wirtz has been linked with a move away from Bayer Leverkusen some time now, with Bayern Munich among his suitors.
However, former Germany coach Joachim Löw doesn’t think it would be the best thing for Wirtz’s career to leave before next year’s World Cup.
“He would be well advised to wait until after the 2026 World Cup to change clubs,” Löw told Welt TV.
He pointed out that the familiar surroundings in Leverkusen are a big advantage for Wirtz at this early stage of his career.
“He will play even if he has a weak phase. He’s guaranteed to play,” said Löw.
Wirtz is currently sidelined with an ankle ligament injury that will keep him out for weeks.
