Since joining Bayern Munich from Fulham for a reported fee of €51 million last summer, Joao Palhinhah has struggled to nail down a starting berth.
Reports have suggested the 29-year-old could be on his way out after just one season with the German giants, but he insists he’s not interested in a move away.
“I’m not interested in the rumors about me leaving. I’m going to do everything I can to show why the club spent the money on me. I’m not thinking about leaving,” Palhinha told Sport Bild.
“I’m doing my job, otherwise I can’t control what happens.”
The 29-year-old defensive midfielder was shown his first red card since moving to Germany in Bayern’s 2-3 defeat to Bochum earlier this month.
The dismissal was a blow for Palhinha, but he’s now ready to move on.
“It wasn’t easy after the red card against Bochum. Although I don’t think I deserved to be sent off for that action. I was disappointed because I wanted to show my colors. But that’s in the past. I’m ready for new challenges,” he stressed.
