Just months after RB Leipzig made Xavi Simons’ loan move from Paris Saint-Germain permanent, speculation is rife that he could be on his way out this summer.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Simons could be offloaded during the summer transfer window if Leipzig receive an offer in the region of €70-75 million.
The Italian transfer market insider claims that Simons would ideally like to join Barcelona, where he played as a youngster. However, it is highly doubtful that the Catalan giants would be willing and able to splash such a fee on him.
A move to the Premier League seems a more likely option, with the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea all monitoring the player, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Should Leipzig fail to qualify for the Champions League, a departure would probably be inevitable.
Die Roten Bullen are in sixth place in the Bundesliga, with seven games remaining.
Marco Rose was sacked as head coach and replaced by Zsolt Löw on an interim basis after last week’s 1-0 defeat to Borussia Mönchengladbach.
