In advance of Thursday’s Europa League last-16 second-leg tie with Ajax, Eintracht Frankfurt winger Ansgar Knauff expressed his excitement ahead of the game.

“We implemented many of the things we had planned in the first-leg and were very focused.

“We go into the game with a slight advantage, but we also know that it’s a knockout game and nothing has been decided yet.

“It’s going to be very special again. I’ve experienced many special games here, and I’m looking forward to it.

“We’re excited on the team, and we want to advance to the next round,” Knauff stated.

The 23-year-old praised the squad’s ability to create attacking opportunities as of late and drew no comparisons to the Europa League winning Frankfurt side of three years ago.

“We’ve done well in creating chances in recent games, even if we’ve sometimes lacked the final touch up front.

“But we’re on the right track and will do everything we can to score a lot of goals in the next few games.

“I don’t see many parallels to the 2021/22 Europa League season, as we were in a worse position in the Bundesliga back then than we are now.

“We have to take it game by game and want to reach the quarter-finals. In the Bundesliga, we still have nine games to achieve the best possible position,” Knauff added.
