After Sven Mislintat lost his job as Borussia Dortmund’s technical director in February, further sackings could take place at the Bundesliga club at the end of the season, with the futures of sporting director Sebastian Kehl and consultant Matthias Sammer particularly in doubt, according to Sport Bild.

If Kehl loses his job as sporting director, current Austria coach Ralf Rangnick could be brought in as his replacement, the report suggests.

Rangnick was linked with the job as head coach after Nuri Sahin was sacked in January, but he didn’t want to leave his position as Austria coach at the time, and Niko Kovac eventually took over instead.

The situation is different now, and with reports of ongoing disagreements between Rangnick and the Austrian Football Association, it’s not out of the question for the 66-year-old to move on this summer if the Dortmund sporting director position becomes available.

According to Sport Bild, the BVB management are particularly impressed with Rangnick’s ability to build a squad, a skill he has demonstrated at both RB Leipzig and TSG Hoffenheim.
