Patrik Schick made the difference for the Czech Republic on Saturday, scoring a brace to help his country to a 2-1 win over the Faroe Islands.

There has been much speculation about the striker’s future with Bayer Leverkusen, and when asked about it after the game, the 29-year-old didn’t give a clear commitment to his club.

“It’s much too early for that,” he said, according to Bild, when asked if he can see himself extending his contract with Leverkusen beyond 2027, or if a move could be on the cards in the summer.

“It’s hard to say. We’ll see what happens in the summer.”

Schick’s game against the Faroe Islands was his fourth 90-minute appearance in 14 days, and the Czech international is generally feeling very fit.

“I’m healthy, that’s always the most important thing for me. I have very good people around me in Leverkusen and in the national team who help me. I’m very grateful for that. I wouldn’t say I would do anything differently. I understand my body and always react when I need to,” he said.
