According to Sky Germany journalists Patrick Berger and Florian Plettenberg, Borussia Dortmund see Nico Schlotterbeck as the club’s face of the future.
The 25-year-old is even seen as a potential captain for the Ruhrpott giants going forward.
Contract talks are currently on hold due to BVB’s sporting situation, but Dormund plan to almost double his current salary of €5-6million per annum.
Other clubs including Liverpool keep showing interest in the German international.
However, even if Dortmund’s Bundesliga season ends in total failure, Schlotterbeck remains open to staying reports suggest.
In the aftermath of BVB’s special kit release last week, Schlotterbeck was the most popular player name on the back of jerseys according to BILD.
